Ramallah – 16/10/2019

The Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) and the Arab American University (AAUP) concluded its preparations for the “Data Science Festival” that is to be held on 20/10/2019 in Ramallah Cultural Palace. The festival will be under the patronage and presence of H.E. Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, on the occasion of the World Statistics Day (WSD) and to launch the Data Science Initiative, where the festival will be the starting point for launching a full set of related projects.

This festival is the first of its kind in Palestine. It will include some interesting presentations and discussions about data by enthusiastic experts towards data science world. It will be an opportunity to learn, develop, network and connect with Data Science communities in Palestine. Participants will also have the chance to meet with real life examples of data science applications through our exhibition that will be held on the margins of the festival. This exhibition will include a topnotch group of Arab national and international companies that have already utilized data science to improve their work operations and productivity. The event is expected to attract over 800 participants with the aim to materialize on collaboration of leaders in academia, research centers, businesses, and government to address data challenges and opportunities in Palestine.

It is worth mentioning that different committees and teams (central and subsidiary) supervised the arrangements/preparations of the festival with the cooperation of PCBS and AAUP, funds from the Bank of Palestine Group, Palestine Telecommunications Group (Paltel), the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the Twenty-first Century (PARiS 21), United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Kingdom of the Netherlands and distinctive partnership with a large number of national and international institutions.
