Our Story

Data science continues to evolve as one of the most promising and in-demand career paths for skilled professionals. Although ‘data science’ is a recently coined term, this field of study is an accumulation of decades of research and innovation in methodologies and tools.

Today, successful data professionals understand that they must advance the traditional skills of analyzing large amounts of data to uncover insights for organizational development.  Professionals must master the full spectrum of data life cycle to maximize returns at each phase of the process. The growing demand for data science professionals across industries, big and small, is being challenged by a shortage of qualified candidates available to fill the open positions. The need for data scientists shows no sign of slowing down in the coming years. LinkedIn listed data scientist as one of the most promising jobs in 2017 and 2018, along with multiple data-science-related skills as the most in-demand by companies.

The celebration of the World Statistics Day comes to remind everyone that good data and statistics are indispensable for informed decision-making by all actors in society. For the year 2019, Palestine has decided to step up the challenge and launch an annual celebration (The Data Matters Festival) on October 20th  to draw attention to the vital role of data in improving lives. The event shall be a starting point to launch a complete set of related projects.
