A full day journey and the first of its kind in Palestine, it’s a completely free one-day event to attend Data Talks by data enthusiasts and a chance to learn, grow
This program aims to train executives and leaders of institutions and all other supervisory positions on the concept of data science to achieve the maximum benefit of it.
PCBS has been aware of the importance of data, that’s why many activities were designed to target school students as a specific target of data users. Activities include Schools’ Statistical Competition
“I keep saying that the sexy job in the next 10 years will be statisticians, and I’m not kidding”
“Errors using inadequate data are much less than those using no data at all.”
“Torture the data, and it will confess to anything.”
“Without data you’re just another person with an opinion.”
“It’s easy to lie with statistics. It’s hard to tell the truth without statistics.”
“Numbers have an important story to tell. They rely on you to give them a voice.”
Statistics is not an accounting and auditing tool, it has much broader role in provision of timely, relevant and impartial data.
A data scientist is a person who digs to explore data, analyses it, then converts it into useful information using data science techniques in order to help humanity.
Data Science is the ability to “turn the data into value” to know when you don’t know enough
Data is the power that lies beneath the truth, the clue to the right decisions for better future.
Data Science is not only about the ability to use one of the tools like” R, Python, SQL, SAS, Tableau, Spark, Visualisation, OR Statistics”.
Data Science is using above tools and techniques, and if required inventing new tools and techniques to solve a problem using data in a scientific way.
Data is the basis of knowledge. But data alone is not enough. It must be read, analyzed using the right tools to reach the right knowledge that elevates humanity
Data science enables us to analyze the data around us to produce high-quality information, depends on it you can make the right decisions in our daily lives””
There is a lot of data around us that monitors our movements, purchases and inquiries, but the important is the mechanism of using this data to contribute in determining what satisfies us and solve our problems and develop future plans
Good data enlightens public debate while bad data steals it.
Data can hear, feel, whisper and shout … because it touches human lives in happiness, sadness, success and attempts. Data has a lot to say if you dare to give it your voice honestly and truthfully. We need data to understand the world around us, but… data alone is not enough!
Data science means you know more and you know better
Data science is the coordinates of any event and represents the architecture of any decision that could be taken. Impact of data is always higher than any expectation. Data science is a core component of any idea !
Although intimating to many, when you think about it, data is all around us. We speak, speculate, communicate, and visualize data on a daily basis without even realizing. Imagine what could the world do with all the data available day in – day out.. this is called data science!
Simply put, data science is the process of asking important questions and getting the right answers.
Each one of us contributes daily to the creation of a new number in the world of data; as a result, of the tremendous technological revolution we are experiencing today which has invaded every family and house. What do you like? What do you hate? Where are you? Your tendencies and trends? Your interests and desires… etc. are all available today under what is called Data Science. It is now time to invest in such data in leadership, development and in a manner that meets the expectations and wishes of the public and society.
Data science is like the blood in the human veins. If blood reaches out all body parts and feeds them, they would do their functions at the best way. Likewise, if every member of this society utilizes data science according to his/her skills and specialties, and works on explaining and analyzing the data available, then he/she would contribute to overcoming challenges and hardships, solving our everyday problems, as well as building and developing our path towards a better future…
Our daily life is full of events, challenges and difficulties that makes it more complex and hard; starting from traffic jam to the high density of housing, climate change and many other issues that affect our life.
The technological revolution has changed the world dramatically and enslaved humans being.
Access to information has become one of the simplest and easiest things for all segments of society regardless of age, gender, social, educational, cultural or economic levels.
Data science is not limited to calculations, mathematics and numbers as everyone thinks; on the contrary, it has become a tool that can be used in our daily life to deal with its complexity and make it easier only if this science is used properly.
We all can be data scientists, practice/apply everything we learn and utilize all the information and statistics we have in solving our daily problems…
“The great medical doctor and statistician Hans Rosling used to say that the world can’t be understood without numbers, but that it can’t be understood through numbers alone either. Data science deals with data and the insights and inferences we can extract from them, but data scientists also need to remind themselves that very often there are human beings behind those data. How do our analyses, algorithms, or tools affect other people? What are the consequences of the technologies we create? What are our moral duties as scientists, analysts, or communicators? How can we contribute to human flourishing and well-being? Those are questions that I think we all need to prioritize.”
“Our users are looking for statistics faster, in more detail and focused on the issues they care about. Data science provides us with tools to draw on unprecedented new sources of data to help meet user needs whilst maintaining our values and professional commitment to quality. Official statisticians should embrace data science with enthusiasm.”
